MAGICAL CUSCO 1 (5D-4N)

Itinerary:

Day 1: Cusco – Pisaq – Ollantaytambo – Maras – Moray – Sacred Valley
After your arrival in Cusco, our private vehicle will take you to Pisaq’s handicraft market in the colonial village’s central plaza. Then, we’ll set off to visit Ollantaytambo’s Inca fortress, the salt mines in Maras and the Inca study center for experimental agriculture (concentric circular terraces) in Moray. At the end of the day, we’ll rest at a hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Inca.

Day 2: Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Puente Ruinas – Mandor – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to Ollantaytambo’s train station, where you’ll take the train to Aguas Calientes. Having left our gear at a hostel, we’ll set off on a Natural History Tour of the Machu Picchu region with a trek from Puente Ruinas to Mandor. The trek will allow us to identify local plants and flowers (orchids) within the site’s botanical gardens. Along the way, we may also have an opportunity to glimpse the Cock of the Rocks (Peru´s National Bird). Back in Aguas Calientes, well have lunch and enjoy a visit to the thermal baths (optional). In the evening, we´ll have dinner in a restaurant of our choice and rest at our hostel.

Day 3: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
Early in the morning, we’ll take a guided tour of the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, with the possibility of watching the sunrise over the ancient Inca city. Then, for those who want to, we can climb Huayna Picchu (Huayna=Young and Picchu=Mountain) to appreciate a full view of the Sanctuary from the mountain’s summit. Afterward, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch, pack our things and arrive at the station with time to catch the return train to Cusco, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Cusco – City Tour
Today, we’ll visit Cusco’s main attractions: Sacsayhuaman’s Archaeological Park, a variety of museums, Plaza San Francisco´s Botanical Gardens, as well as the University Museum. Finally, we’ll spend our last night in Cusco.

Day 5: Cusco – Airport
After breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport in good time for you to catch your flight.
