INCA TRAIL (4D-3N)
Itinerary:
Day 1: Cusco – Km. 82 – Wayllabamba
Walking time: 5 hours
We’ll pick you up at your hotel and travel by bus to Kilometer 82 via the
village of Chinchero. Having passed through a number of check points, we’ll
meet with the professional team that will make our trip everything we’ve
anticipated and begin our trek along the banks of the Urubamba River.
Ultimately arriving in Llactapata; a noteworthy archaeological compound.
Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch and then make our way to our first
campsite in Wayllabamba.
Day 2: Wayllabamba – Pacaymayu
Walking time: 6 to 7 hours
We’ll begin the day with an energy-packed breakfast, and then continue our
trek, slowly ascending to the first mountain pass, called Warmihuañusca at
4,200 meters above sea level. From the pass, we’ll take in an impressive
view of two distinct landscapes. On the one hand, we’ll see the high snow-capped
mountains of the Andes, and on the other, the lush semi-tropical vegetation
of the valley below. Next, we’ll descend to Pacaymayu, where we’ll have
lunch and enjoy some free time in the afternoon. In the evening, we’ll have
dinner at our campsite and enjoy a well-deserved night’s sleep.
Day 3: Pacaymayu – Wiñaywayna
Walking time: 6 hours
Today, we’ll ascend to the archaeological site known as Runkuraqay and
explore several architectural remains from the Inca period (Sayacmarca)
along the way. As we ascend, we’ll observe how the landscape changes from
dry and mountainous to green and semi-tropical along the edge of the jungle.
We’ll also pass through the archaeological complex of Phuyupatamarca. From
that point, it will be a short walk to Wiñaywayna, where we’ll set up our
campsite and enjoy dinner.
Day 4: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
In the early morning just after breakfast, we’ll walk to Intipunku in
order to watch the sunrise over an impressive panoramic view of the
Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Then, we’ll descend to enjoy a guided
visit of this magical place, full of energy and history. We’ll explore its
enclosures, central plazas, sacred fountains, temples, towers, as well as
its agricultural and urban sectors. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to
